It is the LOVE of God via Jesus that is first and foremost. As Paul says, prophecies will pass away but the Love God freely gives us will never pass away. A great deal on this site deals with the weird and prophetic. The bottom line these things should tell us is that God's plan for our lives is real and he loves us! We only have the acknowledge Jesus and his free gift to receive all that God has for us. Chipper – You are so right. It is the LOVE of God via Jesus that is first and foremost. I really enjoy many of your articles. I want to make 3 points that you might want to address. 1. Many people are hung up on prophecy, and observances, or scaling taboos. Many people are trying to do all they can to get into Heaven or avoid going to hell. What is missing in all of this is "Love for God." If people are serving God so they can be in Heaven someday, or serving God so they wont be in Hell someday, Whose best interests are they really serving? 2. Many people if you ask them to describe what Heaven will be like, they mention streets of gold, pearly gates, departed loved ones, singing angels etc. What if you were placed in a realm with all of the things I just described? Would you be happy for all eternity? Many would jump to say "Yes!' But think about it:......If you walked on streets of gold for a million years, wouldn't they be reduced to just something you walk on? And soon all the other elements would fade in your appreciation. But what if I took all those elements away and put you in the presence of Almighty, infinite God? Wouldn't that alone keep you in perfect peace and happiness for all eternity? When in the presence of the LORD of Hosts how are you even going to notice even peripherally any of those material things? Without God there is no heaven! Heaven is not the reward, heaven is where you receive the real reward which is God! "The LORD told Abraham, I am your shield and exceedingly great reward." The first thing that ought to be in our minds when considering Heaven is to be in the presence of our loving Father and creator, not streets of gold, etc. 3. There is such a disdain for the word of God in our modern day world. God spoke the universe into existence. The Holy Spirit endowed people with the information to write into the Bible. Now people want to put their own twist on the word of God so that it will reach others. It will always be God's word, and never your twist that accomplishes the will of God. If you have a full strength solution and you mix it with any thing else, you only serve to dilute it. And never be afraid to use the word of God for your lack of ability in speaking, or inventivness. When we echo the words of God, they are still as powerful as when they were first spoken. And like our universe which is ever expanding, the word of God continues to grow more powerful, and reach further and further as it echoes into eternity. Lastly, Considering Who and What God is, wouldn't it be absolutely wrong not to at least tell God everyday that you love Him? Have you? Now that you have considered this, will you start?
